What a fresh tea brewing machine is, how one brews a cup, how fresh leaves compare with tea bags and premix, and how AntiGra’s SuperBrew range compares — written as a reference, not a pitch.
Short answer
A fresh tea brewing machine brews every cup from real tea leaves, water and fresh milk — dosing, brewing, adding milk and dispensing automatically, the way chai is made by hand — instead of mixing a premix powder or a pre-brewed concentrate. AntiGra's SuperBrew range are fresh tea brewing machines made in Kolhapur, India: five machines brewing chai and teas, two of them also true filter coffee, from a single cup to a multi-litre batch.
A fresh tea brewing machine brews every cup or batch from real tea leaves, water and milk — the way chai is made by hand — instead of mixing a tea premix powder or dispensing a pre-brewed concentrate. Most low-cost tea vending machines use a premix, often with milk powder, dissolved in hot water: fast, but it isn’t brewed.
To our knowledge, AntiGra is the only manufacturer in the world making tea brewing machines that brew fresh tea with fresh milk. AntiGra’s SuperBrew machines automate the fresh-brewed process: they dose leaves and sugar, brew, add fresh milk and dispense, logging every cup along the way.
Fresh tea leaves, and sugar if the recipe calls for it, are dosed for the cup or batch being brewed.
The leaves are brewed with hot water. SuperBrew T2R uses patent-pending agitation brewing for chai; SuperBrew T2 and T2R brew filter coffee by traditional percolation.
Fresh milk is added — never milk powder, premix or a pre-brewed concentrate.
The cup is dispensed and logged, so every cup brewed can be tracked for granular control.
SuperBrew machines brew chai with fresh milk, not milk powder, and use no pre-brewed black tea or concentrates. SuperBrew T2R also shows the live milk temperature on the machine, and strength, sugar and milk can be set for every cup across the range.
| Method | What it is | Freshness |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh tea leaves | Loose tea leaves, brewed to order with hot water (and milk, for chai) each time a cup is made. | Brewed on demand; flavour and strength can be set per cup. |
| Tea bags | A measured dose of tea, usually finer-cut leaves or dust, sealed in a paper or mesh bag for a quick steep. | Brewed on demand, but with less control over leaf grade and steep time than loose leaf. |
| Premix | A tea or chai powder, often including milk powder and sugar, dissolved in hot water. | Not brewed — reconstituted from a powder, generally for speed over flavour. |
| Concentrate | Tea or coffee brewed in advance in bulk, then stored and diluted or reheated to serve. | Brewed once, then held and re-served — not brewed per cup. |
General guidance, not a fixed recipe — taste, leaf and recipe settings all vary it.
| Type | Water | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Black tea / masala chai | Just off the boil (about 95–100°C) | About 3–5 minutes |
| Green tea | Below boiling (about 75–85°C) | About 2–3 minutes |
| Filter coffee | Just off the boil | Percolated, rather than timed by steeping |

SuperBrew machines log data for every cup brewed, for granular control. ChaiCloud, AntiGra’s cloud platform, gives granular information about every machine at a glance, and machines support saved favourites and remote diagnosis. SuperBrew T2R also keeps recipes and machine telemetry on the cloud, supports scheduled brewing, and senses low ingredient levels.
Cleaning stays quick: SuperBrew T2 needs under 10 minutes of daily cleaning, and SuperBrew T2R cleans its brewer automatically before each new batch (the prescribed complete machine and milk-system cleaning routine still applies to both).
Two of the three founders come from a family that has been running a retail packaged tea business for the last 80+ years. We had been looking for a machine that matches the taste of a handmade Chai, and there were none to be found!
Back in 2016, we started tinkering with embedded systems and integrating software into electronics. We have patented a lot of awesome techs that enable hyper-speed brewing of fresh Chai within seconds every time.
With the introduction of ChaiCloud, now get granular information about all the machines at a glance. Every cup is logged, and machines support favourites, remote diagnosis and more.
We believe that there is always room for improvement and we are continually improving our brewing systems. We at AntiGra Systems are laser-focused on delivering the best products that brew the best-tasting Chai that your customers will enjoy!
“We have been sourcing & refining brewing systems from AntiGra for quite some time now and are pleased with the build quality of their machines. AntiGra's Software integration with our Chai Point's cloud based application stack has enabled us to provide consistent, good quality Chai across all our stores.”

Both are brewed in hot water, but tea bags usually hold finer-cut leaves or dust for a faster steep, while loose fresh leaves give more control over leaf grade, dose and steep time, and are generally considered to brew a fuller flavour.
"Tea" most often means leaves steeped in hot water, served with or without milk. Chai, as made in India, is usually tea brewed together with milk and spices (masala chai) — brewed, not just steeped, and rarely served black.
It depends on the tea: black tea and masala chai are generally brewed with water just off the boil (about 95–100°C), while green tea is brewed cooler (about 75–85°C) so it doesn't turn bitter.
As a general guide, black tea and masala chai steep for about 3–5 minutes and green tea for about 2–3 minutes; longer steeps extract more tannins and taste more bitter, shorter steeps taste weaker.
Generally yes, cup for cup, though the exact amount varies widely with the tea or coffee used, how much is dosed, and how long it's brewed — there's no single fixed figure for either.
Fresh milk is dairy milk added as-is; milk powder is dried milk reconstituted with water. SuperBrew machines brew with fresh milk, not milk powder, at every step.
A premix (tea or chai powder, often with milk powder, dissolved in hot water) is faster and simpler to dispense than brewing, since there's nothing to dose, steep or clean beyond the powder itself — the trade-off is that it's reconstituted, not brewed.
Filter coffee is brewed by percolating hot water through ground coffee held in a filter. Instant coffee is a dried, pre-brewed coffee extract, reconstituted with hot water — brewed once at a factory, not at the point of serving.
For flavour, most people brewing with real tea leaves and fresh milk report a fuller, less flat taste than a premix reconstituted from powder — a premix is built for speed and consistency rather than being brewed fresh.
Freshly brewed tea and chai are generally served soon after brewing, while hot; tea left to sit can turn bitter as it continues to steep and cools, which is why machines that brew on demand or renew the batch automatically keep what's served closer to freshly made.
Tea leaves brewed with milk and a spice blend — commonly cardamom, ginger, cinnamon or cloves — and usually sugar. SuperBrew SA's beverage list includes masala tea alongside classic, lemon and house-blend chai.
Yes — chai is typically brewed by adding milk to the tea and spices during brewing rather than boiling it separately beforehand; SuperBrew machines dose and add fresh milk as part of the automated brew.
